Mammos and Muffins 2019

Granville Health System Offers Mammography Event

Granville Health System (GHS) announces it will host a “Mammos and Muffins” event every Saturday in October.

Refreshments will be offered to all patients who come in for their scheduled mammogram from 8:00 am-12:00 pm every Saturday in October. This event celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness in October. GHS encourages women in the community to get an annual screening mammogram.

Mammography remains one of the most important tools in the fight against breast cancer. Studies of women in their 40s and 50s have shown that screening mammograms decrease breast cancer deaths by 15 to 20 percent. Women are recommended to begin receiving annual screening mammograms at the age of 40.

However, if you notice any of the following changes, report them to your doctor right away:

  • a breast lump
  • a change in the texture of your breast tissue
  • breast skin changes, such as dimpling or redness
  • a change in the position of a nipple
  • a change in breast symmetry
  • discharge from a nipple

The Granville Health System Imaging Department offers comprehensive breast imaging and related testing to help physicians find and treat breast cancer at its earliest stage.
To schedule a 3D mammogram, patients can contact the GHS Imaging Department directly by calling 919-690-3240. Patients do not have to present a physician’s order as the GHS imaging team will work with their primary care providers. For more information on 3D mammogram please visit ghsHospital.org/mammogram.
